Crime Theme Group – Case Study
“Domestic Violence Officer”
Through discussions at the Crime theme group it emerged that domestic violence was a major concern in the Dewsbury West Pathfinder area. The group felt very strongly that something must and should be done to counter act these concerns.
The group felt a position needed creating that would help spread key messages throughout the community about domestic violence and look at how services can work more effectively together to provide the best support possible.
The Crime theme group were instrumental in pulling together a job description for the post holder and putting in place both short and long term aims and objectives for the role.
The result was that a Domestic Violence Officer was appointed and started on 3rd April 2006. This is a fantastic example of just what influence and control a theme group can and does have on issues that impact locally.
