Economic Wellbeing Theme Group – Case Study

“Community Jobs Fair”

In November 2005 the Pathfinder ‘Economic Well-Being Survey’ was published as a direct result of a discussion within the theme group several months before.

Upon analysis of various results highlighted within the survey, several major aspects picked up at the Theme Group meeting in November were discussed. These included higher unemployment levels and a significant lack of awareness about the services available to assist in finding employment, across the Dewsbury West area.

To address these issues the theme group discussed the possibility of a Jobsfair & Information Day taking place in Dewsbury West.

This duly took place in March 2006, with 20 stands consisting of employers and providers available for the public to access information and advice. The day was very successful, with over 100 members of the public attending.

The success of the event has prompted Pathfinder to budget for a further four Jobsfair & Information days, which will take place over the next two years.
